The son of a stone setter, Pierre Dubail grew up in the world of the most prestigious houses of Place Vendôme. In 1961, he graduated as a jeweller from the Haute École de Joaillerie, rue du Louvre in Paris, a turning point that would place jewellery creation at the heart of his entire story. In 1969, Pierre and Anne-Marie Dubail opened their first boutique, built around his own workshop: there, clients enjoyed a unique experience, watching the jeweller craft his pieces before their very eyes. In 1984, the opening of the first multi-brand boutique marked a new chapter, bringing watchmaking and jewellery together. Then, in 1993, the Maison settled on Place Vendôme, the epicentre of international fine jewellery, where it dedicated a space entirely to this art: a meeting place for those who cherish craftsmanship and creativity.
At Dubail, nature is the first source of inspiration: joyful and colourful, it celebrates renewal and the desire to savour the present moment. Thus were born the Papillons and Anémones & Papillons collections, which have become iconic for their marquise-cut diamonds, evoking wings and petals in turn. The serti à bride, a bridge-setting technique devised by the Maison’s partner workshop, gave rise to the Diamants line — a reimagined classic in which every stone is exalted.
For Pierre Dubail, high jewellery always begins with a journey. It is in the course of his travels to the world’s most beautiful destinations that he selects the precious stones destined for his creations. The sapphire holds a special place in his heart: it is the deep blue of Sri Lankan sapphires that inspired the Maison’s signature blue. Emerald and ruby complete this cherished palette. Alongside the diamond, these stones now illuminate the windows of the Parisian boutiques, a constant reminder of the beauty of nature.
Every Dubail creation is born in a Parisian workshop, just steps from Place Vendôme. For more than forty years, Pierre Dubail, now joined by Isabelle and Patrice Dubail, has entrusted his ideas to this workshop to transform them into precious pieces. The Maison’s two boutiques, on Place Vendôme and the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, offer these creations a true setting. Each client is welcomed personally and, for the duration of a visit, immersed in the story of a family devoted to the art of jewellery craftsmanship.
It all began at the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris. And it is there that it all begins anew. Driven by the wish to pass on what he was fortunate enough to receive, Pierre Dubail created the Bourse Pierre Dubail in 2022: jewellery for all. Established by the Haute École de Joaillerie and funded by the sale of his paintings, painting being his second passion, this scholarship welcomes new scholarship students every year. For painting and jewellery are, at heart, not so far apart: both are the art of combining colours, a unique artisanal gesture, the creation of exceptional pieces admired for a lifetime before being passed on.
Maison Dubail is, above all, the story of a family passionate about the art of watchmaking, the art of jewellery, and, more broadly, every form of creation. A family in pursuit of excellence, particularly when it comes to meeting the expectations of its clients. These values have endured for more than sixty years and are now being passed on to the third generation. Many of those who work alongside the family say it: Maison Dubail is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside, a rare alliance of rigour, sensitivity and entrepreneurial spirit that gives it a truly singular place in the world of Parisian luxury.
